Professor at the Heritage Institute of the University of Antwerp as well as a freelance artist and glass conservator. He is the leader of the "Heritage & Sustainability" research team. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp in 1982, he taught at schools in Brasschaat, Bruges, Temse and Mechelen. He also worked in maintenance and restoration at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. In 1997, he was one of the founders of ENCoRE (the European Network for Conservation-Restoration Education). In 2009, he completed his doctoral studies and published his dissertation entitled "The Production of Stained Glass in the County of Flanders and the Duchy of Brabant from the XVth to the XVIIIth Centuries: Materials and Techniques."
